Welcome Back

We hope everyone had an enjoyable summer break. School will re-open on  Friday August 31st at 9.05. We look forward to seeing you then.

Open Evening

Our Open Evening takes place this Tuesday from 6-8pm. Why not come along and see the recent developments in the school, view our students’ work and meet our staff and parents? All are welcome and there will some light refreshments available.

First Holy Communion

Congratulations to 2nd class who made their First Holy Communion today. We hope you enjoyed a wonderful day.

Vegetable Patch

We are participating in the Incredible Edibles Initiative again this year. Over the past few weeks we have been busy weeding our vegetable patch and planting lots of delicious fruit and vegetables. So far we have planted strawberries, carrots, lettuce, scallions, parsnips and potatoes. We are watching and waiting with great excitement to see our seeds germinate and grow. In English we have learned the poem ‘A Little Seed’ and we have written up a set of instructions on how to grow carrots.

Gymnastics

We are covering the topic of gymnastics in P.E. We have been working on movement and balance. The fine weather was a great reason to get out our stepping stones and work on our balancing skills.

Capacity

We have been working on Capacity in Maths. We used lots of different containers to measure liquids and compare capacities. We then used what we found out to help us with Capacity word problems.

Little Red Riding Hood

We enjoyed working on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We listened to the story, sequenced the pictures but our favourite part was acting out the story using the puppets!

Easter

We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Easter break. School will re-open on April 9th @ 9.05am. A big thank you to the Parents’ Association who organised a special visit from the Easter Bunny on Friday March 23rd. There was great excitement and chocolate galore. Thank you to everyone who supported the Easter Raffle. As always it was a great success.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

We thoroughly enjoyed Seachtain na Gaeilge, last week. The Senior Room learned and performed the song ‘Sásta’ (Happy by Pharell Williams) and danced the Siege of Ennis. The Junior Room acted out An Gréasaí agus na Sióga (The Elves and the Shoemaker) and also tried their hands are some Irish dancing. A special thank you to Bridget for expert dancing skills!

World Book Day

World Book Day was a great success, showcasing our students’ creativity. From ‘Alice Next Door’ to ‘Horrid Henry’, there’s a book out there to suit you. Happy reading everyone!
